چکیده

We discuss the effects of various processes that can be active during the leptogenesis era, and present the Boltzmann equations that take them into account appropriately. A non-vanishing Higgs number asymmetry is always present, enhancing the washout of the lepton asymmetry. This is the main new effect when leptogenesis takes place at T > 10 GeV, reducing the final baryon asymmetry and tightening the leptogenesis bound on the neutrino masses. If leptogenesis occurs at lower temperatures, electroweak sphalerons partially transfer the lepton asymmetry to a baryonic one, while Yukawa interactions and QCD sphalerons partially transfer the asymmetries of the left-handed fields to the right-handed ones, suppressing the washout processes. Depending on the specific temperature range in which leptogenesis occurs, the final baryon asymmetry can be enhanced or suppressed by factors of order 20%–40% with respect to the case when these effects are altogether ignored.

Leptogenesis from Left-Handed Neutrino Production during Axion Inflation.

We propose that the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry can be naturally produced as a by-product of axion-driven slow-roll inflation by coupling the axion to standard model neutrinos. We assume that grand unified theory scale right-handed neutrinos are responsible for the masses of the standard model neutrinos and that the Higgs field is light during inflation and develops a Hubble-scale root...

Developments in understanding of Baryogenesis are reviewed. We start with early motivations and the proposals in the context of GUTs. Next, the importance of the sphaleron solution and its implications are discussed. Studies of the Standard Model reveal that the latter has a Higgs structure incompatible with existence of observed B asymmetry. We then discuss a generic scenario for electroweak b...

Baryogenesis: The Lepton Leaking Mechanism

We propose a baryoand leptogenesis mechanism in which the B−L asymmetry is produced in the conversion of ordinary leptons into particles of some depleted hidden sector. In particular, we consider the lepton number violating reactions lφ→ lφ, l̄φ̄ mediated by the heavy Majorana neutrinos N of the seesaw mechanism, where l and φ are ordinary lepton and Higgs doublets and l, φ the “sterile” leptons ...

The eejj excess signal at the LHC and constraints on leptogenesis

We review the non-supersymmetric (Extended) Left-Right Symmetric Models (LRSM) and low energy E6-based models to investigate if they can explain both the recently detected excess eejj signal at CMS and leptogenesis. The eejj excess can be explained from the decay of the right-handed gauge bosons (WR) with mass ∼TeV in certain variants of the LRSM (with gL 6= gR). However such scenarios can not ...

Leptogenesis with high-scale electroweak symmetry breaking and an extended Higgs sector

We propose a new scenario for baryogenesis through leptogenesis, where the CP phase relevant for leptogenesis is connected directly to the PMNS phase(s) in the light neutrino mixing matrix. The scenario is realized in case only one CP phase appears in the full theory, originating from the complex vacuum expextation value of a standard model singlet field. In order to realize this scheme, the el...
